Nighttime Grinding and Clenches
Nighttime grinding and clenching can cause wear and tear on your teeth, headaches, neck pain and jaw pain. A night guard is a simple solution to protect your teeth and jaw from the harmful results of nighttime teeth grinding and clinching. We provide a vustom molded plastic mouth guard to comfortably fit over your upper teeth, creating a barrier between your upper and lower teeth. A night guard reduces clenching, grinding and Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ) problems by allowing the jaw muscles to relax.
Temporomandibular Joint Dysfunction, usually called TMJ or TMD, is a condition many people suffer from, but can often be treated. You may suffer from TMJ if you have the following:
- A popping jaw when you open or close your mouth
- Pain in your jaw joints and muscles
Based on the severity of your condition, we can recommend a course of treatment that will help alleviate your pain and make your day-to-day activities more pleasant. Give us a call today for more information.
Periodontal dentistry refers to caring for the gum and bone structures that support your teeth. Without a healthy foundation, your ability to keep your teeth throughout your lifetime could be at risk. Additionally, gum disease has been linked to other significant health conditions, including heart problems and diabetes. Ironically, this branch of dentistry is the least recognized and despite its importance, many of us unknowingly neglect our gums. This can result in disease and infection that goes unnoticed and untreated.
You can ensure the health of you gums and supportive structures with Dr. Wilhite. Access to our advanced periodontal therapy programs is the key to the restoration of your gums and the prevention of future problems.
Damage to the tooth’s nerve tissue sometimes requires a root canal procedure. Despite its bad reputation, most root canals are minimally uncomfortable when compared to the pain and discomfort you may feel before the procedure. Dr. Wilhite uses the latest advances in technology and dental techniques to make your root canal procedure the most effective in the least amount of time.
While typical dentures shift and require the use of denture adhesives to stay in place, the use of implants that fit solidly reduce the problems associated with traditional dentures. Implant-supported dentures distribute your biting pressure more like natural teeth, stimulating the supportive structures of your teeth and helping to prevent shrinkage of bone and soft tissues. An entire set of teeth can be replaced with beautiful, natural-looking implants.
Dr. Wilhite offers sedation dentistry to make your visit as comfortable as possible. For oral sedation, a sedative pill will be taken prior to your appointment. An oral sedative has light to moderate effects, and will usually leave you feeling relaxed yet alert during your procedure. Please arrange a ride after your procedure as the sedation effects can linger after your treatment.
